Originally from Brazil, began his Jiu-Jitsu journey in the 1990s at the world-renowned “Academia Gracie – Rio de Janeiro,” long before the Gracie style gained global recognition. He admired its unique approach to taking fights to the ground and controlling opponents, often against larger adversaries. Throughout his training, Maurino participated in championships, seminars, and classes led not only by Helio Gracie but also by nearly all of Helio’s sons, including Rorion, Relson, Rickson, Rolker, Royler, Royce, and Robin.

He achieved the distinguished honor of earning his Black Belt directly from Royler and Rolker Gracie, two of the most skilled and respected members of the Gracie family.

Maurino is certified by the American Heart Association in Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED, ensuring a safe and professional training environment where safety is always a priority.
